In Formula Drift, there’s a reason they call Round 4 “The Gauntlet”. That might be because this track is incredibly unforgiving and if you’re new to setups like this, you might be in for a rocky ride. Throughout the entire weekend, even in the practice runs, drivers were having a hard time getting used to the course. As soon as the qualifying rounds began, the intensity doubled and drivers were left with the task of making it through the harsh twists and turns. With stakes set high, all participants worked hard to get through qualifying and secure their spots for the top 32. At the end of Friday, with scores tallied up, none of the rookies qualified into that top 32 list. Despite the group of rookies not making that top list for the event, Geoff Stonebeck is still in the lead for Rookie Of The Year. With that title drawing ever so close, the other rookie drivers are putting up a hell of a fight to claim that crown for themselves.
Formula Drift never ceases to surprise us and Round 4 was no different. This round was filled with all the action and aggressive driving that FD is famous for. Fredric Aasbo took home his first, first place title in his Formula Drift career, followed by Chris Forsberg and Aurimas Bakchis (Odi) in second and third. As of now, the official standings are set at Forsberg in 1st, Aasbo in 2nd and Gittin in 3rd overall.
